  1. I love the 40s the most (although I started in the 19th century). My favorite garments are the suits. I love their classic lines, they are easy to mix and match, and they make me feel confident.

  2. Happy wishes to you on your birthday Emily!

To answer your question, I think my favorite vintage accessory is also my most used - scarves! I use them in all shapes and sizes...the long skinny ones are great as a belt or for around my neck under a jacket, the medium ones are for my neck, too, and for my head, while the enormous square ones get used for as bandeau tops, shawls, and also head wear. Luckily I have a nice stash of vintage ones mostly bought on trips or vacations. As for what time period I like to sew, well can't decide so I'll have to say most of the 20th century (just had to answer both questions)! Thank you for offering this giveaway.

  3. My absolutely favorite period is the 1940's. My brother is a WWII re-enactor which got me into the period, but I think the clothes are very classy, and the people themselves are so inspiring.

  4. Happy Birthday!! My favorite accessory is my croquet set. It meets the 1860s standards for mallet height (although it is a modern set), so you can play without hunching over. It's a fun game anyone can play, it gets lots of people involved/included, and it looks good with every outfit ;)

    2. Love it! My friend and I are planning to play croquet this summer in our 1860's dresses. :) We'd decided on that just a few days before I read your comment, so it really made me smile!

  5. That is an incredibly hard call. I love so very many vintage accessories, but when all is said and done, my mind keeps coming back to brooches. They're my vintage jewelry saving grace, as they're usually safe for me to wear, despite my nickel allergy and as such I've built up a delightful collection of them over the years and rarely go more than a month or two without a new one joining the club. My wardrobe would lose a great deal, IMO, if I didn't have these cut pins and I'm so grateful for each one that I own, so again, they get top billing for me.

Many hugs & endlessly happy birthday wishes!

  6. Happy Birthday! I'm not sure how to answer - it's a toss-up between the late '40's/early '50's and Tudor. Hard to decide!

  9. Favorite time period is 1860's, followed closely by 1890's. Both are very feminine, with styles that I honestly love. Both were very interesting time periods in my home state of MN, which makes it fun for living history or period appropriate photo shoots. And, both periods lend themselves to HATS and multiple, gorgeous, lacy, pin-tucked, beribboned petticoats. :) :) :) Happy Birthday, by the way!
